The Nightingale

The Emperor of China learns that the most beautiful thing in his empire is the song of a little nightingale in the forest. He brings the bird to the palace, but then a jeweled mechanical bird arrives as a gift, and the real nightingale flies away. When the emperor falls gravely ill, he needs the song again. Hans Christian Andersen's fairy tale, read by Clare Staniforth. Twenty-five minutes. It is a story about what is real, and what is only shiny, and why the true song matters most.
