The Time Machine

A scientist in Victorian London builds a machine that can carry him through time. He travels to the year 802,701, expecting wonders. Instead he finds gentle, childlike people called the Eloi, and a darker threat living beneath the ground. H. G. Wells wrote this 1895 novella and invented a whole genre.
