Choose by accent

Match the voice to where your story happens and who is telling it. A book set in London, Dublin or the Deep South sounds right in an accent from there, and first-person memoir usually sounds best in a voice close to the author's own. If your book has characters from several places, a narrator with a range of accents can carry all of them.

Choose by genre

A narrator who already records your genre knows its pace. Romance needs warmth and two convincing leads, mystery and thriller need tension and clean clues, children's books need energy and clear words, and nonfiction needs a steady, trustworthy voice that sounds like an expert. Every page below plays demos in that genre.

Choose by voice

Sometimes the sound comes first. Pick a male or female narrator to match your main character, or choose by age: a mature voice for literary fiction, history and memoir, a younger-sounding one for young adult and coming-of-age stories.

How hiring works

Post free, hear auditions, choose

Post your book for free and tell us the voice you want. Narrators audition with a page of your own script, so you compare real readings of your book, not just demos. Pick your narrator, approve a 15-minute sample, then approve the finished audiobook. We check every chapter before it goes out. How our audiobook narration services work.

What it costs

$350, plus the rate you set

You pay a $350 production fee and the narrator's per-finished-hour rate, which you choose (from $50). Or share royalties with your narrator instead of paying per hour. You own your audiobook either way, and we can distribute it to nearly 50 retailers, libraries and streaming services, including our own store. See every option.
