Privacy Policy for Academy Voices

Last updated: September 25, 2026

At Academy Voices, we value the privacy of our users and are committed to protecting their personal information. This Privacy Policy outlines the types of information we collect and how we use and safeguard it.

Information we collect

When you use our website, we may collect:

  • Account details, such as your name, email address, password (stored encrypted) and your email preferences.
  • Your email address, if you ask for a free resource such as our Author Audiobook Checklist. We use it to send you that resource and occasional tips and news. Every email has an unsubscribe link.
  • Profile and work files you upload, such as narrator demos and headshots, manuscripts, scripts and audiobook audio.
  • Payment information. Card and bank details are handled by Stripe and PayPal; we never see or store them. We keep the PayPal email address you give us for royalty payments, and records of your payments and royalties.
  • Technical information, such as your IP address, browser type and device type, which we may collect automatically through cookies or similar technologies.

How we use your information

We use the information we collect for the following purposes:

  • To run our audiobook production and casting services, including contracts, payments, royalties and communication between narrators and authors.
  • To improve our website and services, by analyzing usage trends and user feedback.
  • To communicate with you about our services, updates, and promotions.
  • To comply with legal obligations, such as responding to legal requests and preventing fraud or illegal activities.

How we use AI-assisted tools

Every Academy Voices audiobook is narrated by a real person. AI is never used to create, alter or replace a narrator's voice.

Behind the scenes, some of our tools use a paid, commercial AI service (OpenAI) to process text and audio:

  • turning a manuscript into a marked-up script (Script Prep);
  • checking recorded narration against the script for missed or changed words (Proofing Check);
  • drafting book descriptions and cover art ideas.

Under our paid agreement, nothing you send through these tools is used to train AI models. We have turned off data storage on our account, and the provider deletes what it receives within 30 days. Nothing is ever used for voice cloning or to build synthetic voices.

Information sharing

We share only what is needed with the companies that run parts of our service: Stripe and PayPal (payments), Amazon Web Services (hosting and file storage), Resend (email) and OpenAI (the tools above). We also share information with your consent, or when the law requires it. We never sell your personal information.

Cookies, analytics and advertising

Our public website may use Google Analytics, the Meta Pixel and the TikTok Pixel. They use cookies and similar technologies to collect information about how you use our site, such as the pages you visit, the device and browser you use, and actions like signing up or contacting us. Google uses this to give us reports about visits to our site. Meta uses it to measure our ads on Facebook and Instagram and to show our ads to people who have visited our site, and TikTok does the same for our ads on TikTok. Google, Meta and TikTok handle this information under their own privacy policies. You can opt out of Google Analytics with Google's browser add-on at tools.google.com/dlpage/gaoptout, adjust your ad preferences in your Facebook, Instagram or TikTok settings, or block cookies in your browser.

Your choices

You can choose not to provide us with certain personal information, but this may limit your ability to use some of our services. You can also control cookies and similar technologies through your browser settings. We only send news and offers if you ask for them, and every one of those emails has an unsubscribe link. You can also switch them off in your account's email preferences.

Keeping and deleting your information

To have your account and files deleted, email apica@academyvoices.com. We keep the payment and royalty records we need for taxes and to keep paying any royalties you are owed.

Age requirement

You must be 18 or older to create an account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.

Security

We take reasonable measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, use, and disclosure. However, no security system is perfect, and we cannot guarantee the security of your information.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time, and we will notify you of any material changes by posting a notice on our website or sending you an email.
