Barry Pain

Barry Eric Odell Pain was an English journalist, poet and humorist. He wrote light verse, parodies, and short comic stories, and was widely read in magazines in the early twentieth century. The Problem Club is an example of his dry humor, built on a small group of friends and their odd schemes. He died in 1928. Pain also wrote longer fiction and many humorous sketches, and his comic stories were read by a wide audience in England and abroad. His books remain a pleasant introduction to Edwardian humor.
