Andrew Lang was a Scottish poet, novelist, critic and anthropologist. He is best known as a collector of folk and fairy tales, which he edited with the help of his wife Leonora and other translators in The Blue Fairy Book of 1889 and eleven more in the series. They gather stories from many countries, including Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves. He also wrote on mythology, history and literature.
