About Franklin W. Dixon

Franklin W. Dixon is not one person but a pen name owned by the Stratemeyer Syndicate. The Hardy Boys mysteries, about the teenage brothers Frank and Joe, were written under it by a series of ghostwriters from 1927. Edward Stratemeyer supplied the plot outlines, and Canadian writer Leslie McFarlane is believed to have written the first sixteen books, including The Tower Treasure. The name was also credited on the Ted Scott flying stories.
