About J. J. Connington

J. J. Connington was the pen name of Alfred Walter Stewart, a British chemist who wrote fiction in his spare time. Between 1923 and 1947 he published twenty seven detective novels and one early science fiction work. His best known detective was Chief Constable Sir Clinton Driffield, who first appeared in Murder in the Maze in 1927. Because Stewart worked as a scientist, his puzzles lean on careful, practical detail.
