J. M. Barrie was a Scottish novelist and playwright. Peter Pan first appeared on stage in 1904 and as the novel Peter and Wendy in 1911. Barrie gave the rights to Peter Pan to Great Ormond Street Hospital for Children in London, which still benefits from it.
