John grew up in Southern California and now lives in the Cincinnati area. He came to fiction through the stage: his short play "Chasing Dragons" was waitlisted at a fringe festival before he turned to novels, and he still loves Shakespeare's plays.
When he isn't sketching out the next twist, he bakes sourdough bread, works on his photography and feeds the cats.
KillStarter, subtitled Crowdfunding Murder Anonymously, imagines what happens when vengeance can be paid for by the crowd. It explores the moral gray zones where justice, technology and revenge collide, and asks whether the people who seek retribution lose themselves in the deadly game they've started. It is John's debut, and the audiobook is narrated by Michele Wagner.
"I hope you enjoy these flowers," she said, adjusting each stem. "They are 'Forget-Me-Nots.'" Looking directly at his eyes, and switching to an icy cold tone, she added, "They're from all of us."
