About John Stuart Mill

John Stuart Mill was an English philosopher, economist and member of Parliament. Educated at home by his father, he learned Greek at three. His essay On Liberty, published in 1859, argues that society may limit a person's freedom only to prevent harm to others. He also wrote Utilitarianism and The Subjection of Women, and he supported votes for women and workers' organizations. He is regarded as one of the leading thinkers of liberalism.
