About Morgan Robertson

Morgan Robertson was an American author of short stories and novels, many of them drawn from his years at sea as a merchant sailor. He called himself the inventor of the periscope. His 1898 novel Futility tells of a huge liner called the Titan that strikes an iceberg, and readers later noted its similarities to the sinking of the Titanic fourteen years afterward. The Battle of the Monsters is one of his sea adventures.
