About Niccolò Machiavelli
Niccolò Machiavelli was a diplomat for the Republic of Florence. After the Medici returned to power he was tortured, exiled to his farm, and wrote The Prince, a blunt handbook on how rulers win and keep power. It made "Machiavellian" a word and is still read by leaders and students of politics.
