About Novalis

Novalis was the pen name of Georg Philipp Friedrich Freiherr von Hardenberg, a German poet, novelist and philosopher born into a minor noble family. He was one of the leading voices of early Romanticism in Jena, and his work blends fairy tale, nature and mysticism. He died of illness at twenty eight. The tale of Hyacinth and Roseblossom is a story within his unfinished novel, The Disciples at Sais.
