About Plato

Plato was a philosopher of ancient Athens, a student of Socrates and the teacher of Aristotle. He wrote in dialogues, conversations in which Socrates questions his friends. The Apology records Socrates' defense at his trial and the Symposium is a dinner-party debate about love. Written as speech, they come alive when read aloud.
