About Sir Max Beerbohm

Max Beerbohm was an English essayist, parodist and caricaturist who signed his work simply Max. He became known in the 1890s as a dandy and a humorist, and from 1898 to 1910 he was drama critic of the Saturday Review. In 1911 he published Zuleika Dobson, his only novel. He then moved to Rapallo, Italy, where he lived for most of his remaining years. His caricatures, drawn in pen or pencil with light watercolor, hang in many public collections, and in later life he was a familiar voice on the radio.
