About this audiobook
A poor woodcutter named Thomas saves his master from robbers in the forest. The master rewards him with the cottage where he lives and all the wood he can use, on one condition: that he never sell anything and never try to rise above his station. Thomas finds a clever way around the rule. Then wolves begin to prowl the forest, and his three sons dig pits to catch them.
The story is from Dinah Maria Mulock Craik's The Fairy Book, her retelling of old tales. Richard Stibbard reads it. In one of the pits the brothers find a fairy lady who has been trapped there, and she offers the family two wishes.
