Sun-yen is a kind and generous man whose goodness carries him from wealth to hardship and back to good fortune again. His daughter Cheng-si is the heart of this very old Korean legend. The story is one of the oldest surviving works of Korean literature. Its author and date are unknown, and it was well known as a play by the end of the fourteenth century. Charles M. Taylor translated and adapted it into English in 1919. Read by Richard Stibbard. Two hours and thirty-seven minutes.
