Miguel Khoury

I love telling and listening to stories. I grew up in a very creative household, learning to play the violin at a young age and acting in plays for my school and community. After getting a Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology, I worked as a rehabilitation counselor for a number of years. Although it was a good experience, I found myself wanting to be more creative, so I taught myself computer-based design and became a professional web and graphic designer, which I’ve done for the last 30 years. I use narrative as a communication tool in all of my visual work as a designer. In addition, for the past 7 years, I’ve been an actor with an improv troupe in Seattle called Playback Theater Northwest. Our improv style revolves around listening to the audience’s stories, tapping into the key emotions of each, then playing the stories back to them. This always, and sometimes surprisingly, creates a sense of community and shared humanity.
