Audio Checker & Fixer
Check a file against audiobook specs, and fix it if it fails.
Retailers reject audiobook files for technical reasons: too quiet, peaks too hot, the wrong sample rate, not enough room tone. The Audio Checker measures your file against our specs, which follow the standards stores use, and shows a pass or fail with the actual number for each one. If a file fails, one click formats it to spec for you to download.
What it looks like
How the Audio Checker & Fixer works
- Upload an MP3, WAV or M4A file.
- See every check, pass or fail, with the measured value.
- If it fails, click "Format to spec for me" and download the fixed file.
What the Audio Checker & Fixer does
- Checks format, bitrate, sample rate, channels, length, loudness, peaks, noise floor and room tone.
- Fixes format, levels and room tone: converts to mono 44.1 kHz MP3, sets loudness, keeps peaks safe and adds clean room tone at the start and end.
- Re-checks the fixed file before you download it.
- Honest about limits: it can't remove background noise that is in the recording itself.

Can it fix background noise?
No. It fixes format, levels and room tone, but noise in the recording has to be dealt with in your edit.
Does checking a file submit it?
No. The checker is only a test. Nothing is attached to a project.
Is it really free?
Yes, for anyone with a narrator or author account.
