Proofing Tool
Catch misread, skipped or added words before you submit.
The Proofing Tool checks your recorded chapters against the manuscript, word for word. It transcribes each chapter, lines it up with the script and shows you every place the audio and the text disagree, with a button to hear that exact spot. You fix the pickups while your setup and your voice still match.
What it looks like
How the Proofing Tool works
- Upload the manuscript once. The whole book is fine: the tool finds the part each chapter covers.
- Drag in your chapter files, as many as you want checked.
- Each chapter is transcribed and compared word for word with the script.
- Open a chapter to see the script with every problem spot highlighted, plus a numbered list.
What the Proofing Tool does
- Three kinds of issue, color-coded: a misread (a different word), a skipped word and an added word.
- Every issue shows the line, what the script says and what you said.
- A preview button plays the spot, starting ten seconds early so you hear it in context.
- Tick issues off as you fix them, or mark one "not a mistake."
- Re-check a chapter for free after you record pickups.
- Nothing is submitted anywhere. It is a check, not an upload.

Questions about the Proofing Tool
Does the Proofing Tool check my performance?
No. It checks the words: anything misread, skipped or added. Pacing, character voices and delivery are your call, and the tool never marks them.
Does it work on the whole manuscript?
Yes. Upload the full book once. The tool finds the section each chapter covers, so you don't need to split the script.
Is my audio sent to a project or a store?
No. The Proofing Tool is only a check. Nothing you upload is submitted anywhere.
How are hours counted?
By the length of the audio you check, rounded up per file. Re-checking a chapter after a fix is free.
Do I need to be a member?
The Proofing Tool comes with the Narrator Tools Bundle, which you can have with or without the $9 narrator membership.
