A Dream of Armageddon

On a dusky English train, a man with a white face confesses the dreams that are killing him: night after night he wakes into another life, centuries ahead, as Hedon—a powerful statesman who abandons duty for the intoxicating pleasures of Capri and the woman he loves. When he refuses a final summons to avert catastrophe, a ruthless rival drives the world toward total war. As fleets of aeroplanes swarm the skies and bombs rain down, paradise becomes a battlefield. The lovers flee through sunlit temples and shattered coasts in a desperate bid for escape, only to face the ultimate cost of choosing passion over responsibility. Wayne Champion’s evocative narration heightens H.G. Wells’s eerily prophetic vision of aerial warfare and the psychological terror of consecutive dreams that blur into waking life. Part love story, part political tragedy, and part apocalyptic nightmare, A Dream of Armageddon is a compact masterpiece of classic science fiction that still feels shockingly relevant. Enter a world where memory wavers, duty collides with desire, and the sky itself becomes an instrument of judgment.
