About O. Henry
O. Henry was the pen name of William Sydney Porter. He began writing seriously while in prison for embezzlement, then moved to New York, where he wrote hundreds of stories about clerks, shop girls and con men. "The Gift of the Magi" and "The Ransom of Red Chief" are among the best known, and his surprise endings became his trademark.
